There is an interesting difference that tends to occur in portraits of men and women in the 15th century portrait.
Whilst the portraits of men tend to be as accurate as possible - indeed this is what was strived for, it is not so with women.
With the pictures of women it was considered a good thing to flatter then, and hence the way women look in the picture is not how they look in reality!
Typical changes were to add long noses, smaller cings, fine eyes and high foreheads
