Birdwatching Tips: Keep Records

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
It is amazing how many birdwatchers do not keep records of their sightings.

Yet these are very important - not only for you to know what you have seen, and where, but also for future reference.

Many birders have make great contributions to research on the decline and rise of species over a number of years. If you visit spots every year then you will be able to monitor seasonal changes in bird populations, which can be important information for wildlife trusts and conservation experts.

In addition, you might like to try and photograph the species you see and maintain your own birding records. Of course if you do this, then you will need patience and quite expensive equipment!
