How To Win In Competitions
Envious of all those people that seem to constantly win competitions? Well you needn't be. You can win to, with a little bit of luck and a little bit of strategic planning.
Some people dedicate their whole lives to 'comping' and enter hundreds of competitions a month. Of course these people are more likely to have several big wins a year just through sheer probability. However most of us have busy lives in other ways and this is not really a possibility for us. However, all is not lost - you can still be successful.
The best thing to do is to find competitions that have a low entry. Clearly here your chances of winning are much higher. If you have access to the internet, you will come across a goldmine. Practically every site of any sort seems to have a competition these days. You will often stumble across competitions with decent prizes that will merely have an entry of around 100 or certainly only 1000 or so.
Some competitions may even have you as the only entrant. Or, buy a product that is not very common. Instead of buying your favourite washing powder - along with millions of others - try changing to a lesser known one that has a competition on its pack - the entry is bound to be a lot lower.
Tie-breakers. How do you do them? They can indeed be daunting. But practice is the best way. Think of a product - say a car - and think about the slogan that you would come up with. Then write it. Modify it until it sounds write. Repeat with several products.
Watch TV ads and make note of the tips and tricks used in memorable ones. Then, when the competition comes along, use your experience and the structures that you like to produce that winning slogan. A rhyming dictionary is a good investment. Many people like to use rhymes and alliteration and, of course, positive words like 'energy' in their slogan, or perhaps use a play on words.
