If are you performing a trick as a one off, here's the easiest way!
Buy a pack composed of just one card only. Shuffle several times then spread out face down to the participant and ask them to take a card.
When they do so, you already know what it is.
Perform some impressive patter around the card, and then reveal what it is.
Once done, put away the pack of cards in your pocket away from public view and refuse them to examine the cards.
Answer any questions with 'that's magic!'
