Inheritance Tax And Business Property Relief

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
One type of asset that can qualify for business property relief is shares in companies that are unquoted trading ones that you have held for two years at least.

This is one rare example of an asset that could be given from an estate and there will not be an immediate burden of the dreaded inheritance tax on them.

Note therefore that this might be a method that you want to use for inheritance tax planning if relevant and suitable to you and your financial situation - ask a tax planner for more advice.

And of course also bear in mind the rules are always changing so what qualifies for property relief now may not do so in the future!
