How to Splice Phone Wires

Separate telephone wires are often connected together for the sake of adding a new phone line or repairing a cut cord. The wires may be joined by way of a splice, but not the type used for electrical wiring. Telephone wires must be protected against exposure to air, which can corrode the wire and create static in voice transmission and reception. Special crimp connectors with insulating gel make phone wire splices that are protected against static for years of service.
